RAILWAY REMAINS 2

I wonder what bent a length of 45 lb rail like this.

This is a points operating lever near the 96 mile Main Camp, Lakewood line.

A line of rotting sleepers on the mainline is slowly being reclaimed by the bush, Lakewood line.

A piece of line still in place.

Point rail near a crossing loop about 108 miles from Lakewood.

Here everything has been bulldozed into a heap to make a vehicle track along the old main line.

Nearby, the scrapman obviously had no need for this big heap of fish plates.

This long and deep cutting is on a spur line which runs east from the main line about 95 miles south of Lakewood. It would have taken a lot of effort to excavate it. I found this cutting by studying the area on Google Earth..
