WOODLINES
TODAY
For over sixty years
trains carried firewood and timber to the gold mines around Kalgoorlie
in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. From the late 1890's
through to 1964 a network of rails spread like a giant spiders web all
around Kalgoorlie out to a distance of nearly 200 kilometres and
millions of tonnes of firewood and timber was carried on
these
lines.
I go to the areas that the Woodlines passed through several times a year. The pages of this site contain some of my photographs of what still remains out there.
