For over sixty years trains carried firewood and timber to the gold mines around Kalgoorlie in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. From the late 1890's through to 1964 a network of rails spread like a giant spiders web all around Kalgoorlie out to a distance of nearly 200 kilometres and millions of tonnes of  firewood and timber was carried on these lines.
I go to the areas that the Woodlines passed through several times a year. The pages of this site contain some of my photographs of what still remains out there.
